    Another Prague Castle Bar...Opinion Pls

Having just purchased a Deschler cased 1. Oct. 1938 medal with a prague castle bar from a well know dealer I did a search on this forum on them and now not sure about it being original.

I would like you opinions please.

    Regards,
    AB.

The backing pins. Are there known samples with pins like this?

          Andrew,

You probably had a look at the thread I started:

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=261331

Your Prag bar looks a lot like mine. Everyone declared it a fake.

I must admit, I do like the flat prongs and not the pins both of these feature as well. Mine is being returned to the seller.

            Hi Mike,
Yes I did read you thread and thats what made me post mine on the forum. They are very similar. I thought I read somewhere that there is a version with pins like mine but that might be wishful thinking.

Unless someone tells me otherwise I will consider it a fake. Back to the dealer it goes.

Yes I agree. Never seen one with the packet before. OK, so where do we go to get one of those???

It's on its way to me now. But no idea where to find another. Just keep scouring websites and shows, I guess.

                        Andrew:

The bar you posted, in my opinion, does not look to be original. From what I have learned about them, such wire-looking prongs are incorrect. That looks like nothing I've learned to be on a known original. If, in the future, however, something like that becomes a "known original", then that would change everything entirely. It's just that at this time, and for as long as I have known so far, that type of prong is incorrect.

                        Mike:

In contrast, the one you have posted (with the packet) has exactly the type of prongs I have always known to be a correct form--the wide, flat type, with the triangular ends. What you posted looks like an excellent example of an authentic bar, and a great photo for comparison.

These are just my opinions, of course.

                          Hi Chris,

Thanks for your input. Yes, I agree that its not known to be an original bar. I have contacted the seller and he will replace it and I can keep the repro bar for reference. I know now what to look for and thats the beauty of this forum. You never stop learning.

                          Thanks again.

                            Hi

I also do not like these wire ones but Mike, I love the packet.

                              hi

                              Mike,

I was so inspired by your packet I thought I would post a picture of my L/11 with the box. I wish I could also find one like Mike's
