Opinions on this Ost Front Medal & Packet

    Hi guys,

Someone is looking to sell this ost front medal and packet and I was wondering what something like this is worth. I don't have much experience with these so I thought I would make a thread about it before I make an offer. He says it is stamped "19" from franfurt, the package has the frankfurt stamp also. I looked through this list of makers http://www.auszeichnungen-online.de/Seite3_LDO.htm and I do not see the frankfurt maker.

What would a set like this be worth? I really do not know much at all about these medals so any info would be great. I only have this one photo at the moment.

I would say in this condition around $40. Personally, I would pass on this one and save your money for a better example.

      Hi Rylan,

The number 19 is E. Ferd Weidmann of Frankfurt and is in my opinion one of the most common and frequently seen maker marks on Ost medals.

The list of 'makers' you produced in the link is the LDO list only, these are the retail maker marks of some of the award makers.

19 is a Prasidialkanzlei (opposed to the LDO number of this maker which is L/51) number.

PS. it should have the full makers name on the packet, not just Frankfurt anyway.

$40 is roughly £20, I guess that is reasonable, offer him $20 though

Well thanks for all the help, but I passed on this one. I offered him $35 telling him he might be able to get $40-50 but he just laughed saying they go up to $100 on ebay... So I just let it go, I guess when you make an internet wanted ad, people assume you are willing to overpay for something you wern't even looking for in the first place.
