        Blood Order

This is an interesting piece. I had seen one other example with the number under the silver mark. I could find no reference anywhere to the anomoly. I also checked with Steve Wolfe and Bob Moses (who had, for a while, cornered the market in Blood Orders and had owned more than anyone I know of) and neither had ever seen one numbered pre-45 with the award number/silver content number reversed. The piece I had seen also was a 3 digit number and the numbers were not in a straight line, like this one.
The consensus was that it was an original unnumbered Blood Order found after the war which was subsequently numbered. I'm not saying that's the case here, because no one knows for sure, but it raises a question.
There were only about 1500 of these made (first type) and all by the same manufacturer. All that I've had featured the award number above the silver content, and the numbers were in a straight line.

          Nice!!! America is AWAKE......

That's the reason I posted this Blood Order.
This piece is not in my collection because of the markings anomaly.

The piece is real and personally I do not believe it is marked post-45. But why marked this way?
Like to see this discussed further....

            Blood Order

            Hello Pieter,
You're right, the piece is 100% original--just a question about when it was numbered. There are a couple of possible logical explanations, but I don't know any documentation to determine the truth.

Would this item be for sale at this time and how much is the asking price? It is for sure an anomaly, but it is worth further investigation as to why it was marked as it is. I would still like to own it because I doubt very seriously that this early medal would have gone un-issued and numbered post war. It is not logical, but stranger things have happened. I would take a chance on it.

                Bill,
This piece was sold years ago, do not know where it is now.
                Sorry, Pieter.

                  Question for Mr Bill Stump

Hello Bill, do you mean that you are suddenly going to collect medals with "anomalies" ?

No misunderstanding, Pieter : I am not criticising at all the Blood Order you showed here, but I was just referring to another thread discussed by Bill some months ago. That's why I intitled my reply : Question for Mr Stump.

                      Best,

                      Mark

The person I am talking about is dear Billy...
Not my self....I've still a long way to go

                        regards Pieter.

You' right Pieter, we all have a long way to go ... and that's the fun of collecting. Just imagine having "everything" : ... nothing to look for anymore, ... nothing to learn, ... how boring !

                          So, enyoy collecting,

If cheap I pick them up. I have many put back over the years. I would even purchase your possible German Order anomaly if priced low enough. I don't suddenly do anything.
