To be honest I really don´t know. I guess it is since there never
been any pin or plate-backing on it. The ribbons are folded around
some kind of light-blueish pressed paper.
Finally a trivial question: what medal is the one to the right?
... "Front Fighter" spange. A certain amount of front-line, under fire, insane bravery-type duty was required to get this clasp. Brunswick offered a much prettier one on their EA Kreuz, Second Class.
Both of these awards were Iron Cross, Second Class equivalents but are significantly harder to find... especially with the clasp.
Nice bar, and a "sew-on" to boot!
The Oldenburg "vdF" bar is one of our enduring Imperial mysteries, since documentation is so poor.
I can't imagine how anyone could have had it-- and 25 years continuous Wehrmacht service... without a WW1 EK2.
The KVK2X ribbon here in first place looks noticably smaller in height-- can you tell if that has been "patched" in or otherwise looks like a change or repair? It looks to me like a 1914 EK2 ribbon was cut or broken off before the Oldenburg one-- a sharp edge of the cardboard under layer shows there.
The KVK is of the exact same size as the others. But youré correct,
it has been patched in as you can see on the stitching on both obverse and reverse. The cardboard seems to be intact on the other bars. The Prague-bar has 2 flat center-pins as well as the
Oldenburg.
