Opinions on 18 yr Police Service Medal

Hello: Can I get some opinions on this un-cased Police 18 yr Service Award? Is this the correct ribbon or is this a civil service honor ribbon? How difficult will it be to find the embroidered eagle device? Does $195.00 sound like a fair price for this award?

If you look hard enough , you can find a cased one WITH embroided eagle ribbon.

The embroidered eagle is a part of the ribbon it's a metal one you want, these were issued I believe with and without so it is correct from that point.

They are fairly common medals but I like them and can be at bit expensive. I got mine in a case with the wide ribbon for 165 pounds, there is one on a Uk site for sale of a similar price in the narrow box, without the eagle on the ribbon.

Converting that $195.00 into pounds I think it is all of it's money, but if you look around I think from the British perspective you could get what you want for less money, we're talking a few dollars.

Hi John,

Not realy my speciality these medals but I did some quick looking arround and found this absolute mint cased medal with + ribbon bar for $ 204. So if it were my choice I would know what to buy for just $ 9 more (excl. shipment that is).

P.S Just found a 25 year in mint condition without a case and without eagle on the ribbon for $ 117,-. So I definetly would conclude that the price on yours is to expensive.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your time and effort! I think I will pass on this piece and put forth a little more time in locating a complete medal set and maybe save a bit of money too.

Try looking at Helmut Weitze's site , he's got a few (12 and 25 years) and cased with eagle.
But i don't know if they're original or not.
So before you buy , post the pictures of the cross you like on this forum.
Many skilled people on this forum can help you determine if it's an original cross.
