The ribbon feels too new to really be real, but it's the medal that I'd like to authenticate. Let me know if closer pictures are needed guys and thank you so much. I also want to apologize that I have been using a flourescent light. My room does not have a really good incandescent light source.

As Don has said it's a good zinc based award. As to the ribbon...yours appears to be a replacement, as the early ones were more yellow/tan than the later bronze/tan, but not necessarily a reproduction. Try shining a black light on it and see if the white stripes glow. If they do not it's likely good but if they do it's likely a reproduction. I have some that are early issue, some late and good (I think) and some that light up like high noon when you hit them with a black light. The black light test is not infallible but can be used as a general guide I believe.

I've already tried lighting up the ribbon and the white bars do indeed glow a bluish hue. I just used a regular black light - I don't know if I need a special kind or not but the white stripes do seem to respond a bit to the blacklight. I figured the ribbon was probably fake..the material feels way too ..you know...I can't find the right words.
