Mini Mother's cross
It came in this box. It looks "as new" with a strange type of beige "furry" sort of felt inside. Is this original? I only have a few days to decide whether I should keep this so would be grateful for opinions.

Here's the reverse of my L/53 marked miniature for comparison. The pin attachment plate does appear to be different but I couldn't say whether this is a problem with regards to yours.

Actually looking closely, it would appear that part of the pinning, i.e. the attachment plate is missing. Also, the cross on mine is suspended by the ribbon and not by a metal hook / claw.
However, I am not familiar enough with these to know whether this is a manufacturer's variation or a problem.

I see nothing wrong with the cross, box, pin or mounting. The hook arrangement is quite common on these miniatures and I've seen various pin arrangements including the ones shown by you and Toby. The red boxes usually seem to have the LDO marking inside the lid, but I've seen others marked on the outside. The fuzzy-felt on the bottom of the box is also normal.

Looks good to me also Terry. I have a silver one and I have attached photos of it. If interested, I'll part with it seeing as though I don't collect civilian anymore.
