    What does vaulted mean?

I know its a basic question but what does a vaulted medal mean?

    Vaulted

    Hi there,

Vaulted refers to the curvature of the badge. Some are flat, some are curved or vaulted.

So it kinda means "popped up"?

Yup, kinda. Imagine putting a flat badge on an egg, and forming the badge to fit snugly against the egg.

Of course, you'd have to have a real sturdy egg...

Why is a vaulted medal considered more valuable than a non vaulted medal?
