    Army 4 Year Service Medal

    Sometimes when I see those medals I'm wonder how come after 60-70 years they still look like brand new.. Same thing with EK ribbons, lot of mint "orginals" anywhere i look.. Owners keept them all the time in security safe or something? Please forgive me my questions - I'm newbie

      Early awards were made from good base metals (tombak) and quality finishes. Additionally, items like the one you display was never worn or exposed to the elements. For every one mint piece you find there are probably several hundred others in varying condition.

        BTW, not sure but looks like letters & swas are thicker in the first one?

          It also depends where you look. Many people on here will have multiples of the same medal, so they are now only looking for Mint ones & those are the ones people will show to other members. For example, after 6 months i have 13 EK's so now i am only looking for near Mint ones.

              I've found 2 more in nice conditions this one according to seller it's a real piece of history and another one "fake"..

                The one below is in mint condition but seller said - it does not feel right - could be a repro or late war.. I just noticed all 4 have a diferent eagle heads..

                  There is always that possibility but what does "Doesn't feel right" mean. Not all badges feel the same from maker to maker. At best this is a sneeking suspicion and should lead to an avenue of inquiry as to what is wrong with it. Did he offer to buy it from you as a fake?

                    He said it's too light comparing to other one and thats why there is uncertain of authenticty.
                    The price is close to orginal though: fifty bucks
