Looks straight forward . I have always assumed that fakes of this particular medal would be badly made and easy to spot...wishful thinking maybe...

I dont like it. Many things why...

The Eagles beak looks too big and the neck is a bit skinny. The Talons dont look right. The jump ring loop is off centre.
On the reverse the text looks wrong, I dont like the styling of the font on these words as well, a bit scrappy IMO. The R in verdienstvolle, A in mitarbeit, on olympischen there is not a wavy appearance on this word as on originals I have seen.

As I understand also that these awards are magnetic and just over 54000 were issued.

I've just looked at one of mine, and the neck looks narrower compared to mine. I agree with Rob the off centre ribbon loop looks odd too. Out of interest does the ribbon have the pin attachment sown in to the top of the ribbon? I believe most originals were issued with.
