    Is this medal real?

      Looks fine. I have no idea why the batch of awards created in 1938 all had that type pin, since NOBODY wore their medals around in uniform like that in Germany, but they did ISSUE them this way. Faithful Service Crosses, these "Flower campaign" medals... apparently all that expense just to pin it on at the award ceremony and then throw the ribbon and pin away when it was remounted for a German regulation medal bar.

          Hi Tyler, here's one that may be of Interest... It would seem that not everybody could afford to have medal bars made up and were quite happy to do a bit of home construction...

            Is there a piece of metal inbeetween the front and back ribbon to hold the medals up?

              Bought It in Germany at a flea market... There is a piece of thick cardboard keeping It stiff... You can just make out the date 1940 printed on the end of the board... Probably the 'sell by date'
