German Eagle Order

While cleaning out some old magazines I ran across a US News article on American firms facing holocaust claims. Included was a picture of Henry Ford being awarded what appears to be the German Eagle Order in 1938. He is wearing the sash with white cross, without swords, down by the left hip. An unnamed person is pinning on a breast star. I’m assuming it was a first class but the GEO degrees have me a bit confused.

Does anyone have any information on why Ford got the award and what class he received?

Hi I have seen several shows on the history channel and he would have made a great nazi .He had his own newspaper and it was all about the worlds problems caused by the Jews ETC. Look in the book For Fuhrer and father land , Political & Civil Awards it has a photo of him getting the award and who the person that is giving it to him. Page 371 it does not say why he got it?

Henry Ford is a noted anti-Semitic who published many pieces of books, the most famous of which was the International Jew, a collection of articles from his newspaper. He was an early backer of Hitler, who supported him considerably during his pre 1933 election years, Hitler was an ardent admirer of his industrial revolution with the production of the Model T Ford motorcar. It is also rumoured that Hitler had a picture of Ford hanging on his office wall in Berlin.

I did see a documentary many years ago on television about the American backers of Hitler even though the early pre Pearl Harbour war years. My memory is quite hazy on this subject. I’m sure if you do a search on the internet you will dig up more information. .
