    In some instances the printing on the packet reflects the maker of the packet and not the medal maker. Like many other items packets were also contracted out. So the medal may very well have come in that packet. This situation occurs on EK2 packets as well.

      Just when you think you're getting the hang of it
      Does this mean that if the name on the back of the packet isn't that of a medal maker then it's probably OK, as opposed to my packet which has the name of a different medal maker on it.
      Confused...you will be!

        Hello,

        Here is my 110 and you can see it is either Tombak or Buntmetal, can you advise which one?

              That is a very, very nice looking Eastern Front Medal. I concur with you about it being tombac.

              Ant,
              I have no idea who any packet makers are. As long as the number on the ring does not correspond to a know medal maker it might be ok. Example: A K&Q (#65) medal in a Deschler und Sohn (#1) marked packet. That is mismatched pair for sure. You need to know who the medal manafacture is so that it can be matched to the packet.
