Medal looks good but, as a matter of interest on my part, is the case the same as the Anschluss medal case? Is this indeed the correct case for this medal?

There is no known original cased Memel medal. If an example did surface, I would expect the ribbon to be folded and sewn with attachment pin like the Austrian and Sudetenland medals that come in cases...Tom

One source (FORMAN) mentioned a red case for medal of 13 Mach 1938. A brown-red case for 1 October and a red case for the Memel.

Foreman is just guessing. There has never been a documented example of a cased Memel medal. All thes ones ever presented are just put-togethers from Sudetenland or Austrian cases. I would love to see an original example, as I too have always wanted one...Tom

That's what I thought. Anyway, I am looking for an empty Anschluss case if anyone has a spare one, let me know.

I share the sentiments of Tom and have expressed such in the past too.

I have also expressed in the past in what I believe they came in too, that is the plain, devoid of designation packet and only maker marked. There is a designation marked example which leads to contention's, I know of two such like.

Private purchase examples are known to come in small cardboard boxes and even wax paper packets, the latter though all insundry could come in those. The cardboard boxes are marked for the specific award if I recall correctly (?)
