    Ss Medal Bar

Nothing elaborate here, but a neat WW1 vet that was in the police and then SS

Something is not right here. This is the type with each individually mounted medal on a split tab metal backing bent through the back plate, so something could have been moved.

The Police 18 is WAY out of alignment, and should have its bottom arm in line with the bottoms of all the other awards.

I have no clue whatsoever about originality of the SS long service medal, but note that there is stitching there where the rings meet the folded halves of the ribbon not present on the other ones.

Dual Polizei/SS Totenkopf/SS Junkerschule full time memberships would be hard to account for in the lower ranks, though the Bigwigs cheerfully bestowed all sorts of double and triple seniorities upon themselves. Likewise, being full time Police in 1938 and then going career SS-VT/Waffen SS would not seem likely to produce such a no-WW2-awards group years later. Most Polizei groups with two "dark blues" were for an Imperial military long service award, worn before the Third Reich Polizei.

Paranoia is not fun, but it's necessary!

although in the scan the blue ribbons appear to be the same shade, the police has a diiferent, darker shade of blue which does match the embrodered eagle. The ss medal does have the beveled ring and tear drop loop, the blue on the ribbon is not the same as any of my wehrmacht awards.
Who knows, I am glad I am not starting a collection today, and sure do think about selling all my stuff to pay off all the things I should have the past 20 years, but I am still have a little fun with it. I bought this in 1984 for $450. The medals alone are worth that assuming they are real and I feel that they are.
If you are not paraniod in this hobby, then you are a wealthy man buying stuff from one or two people, while the rest of us try to get the biggest bang for our buck and try to get the ocassional bargan from the little guys.

I see what you are saying about the last place being an imperial long service medal, it would hang really high if it were there,
I do not know, another thing to have put in my box when I die.

Lippe-Detmold War Merit Cross on combatant ribbon. There's another tiny one as part of the "sign" over the Imperial Forum.

Can you gently poke around and get the Police hung back up right? And what do the guys who know about these SS medals (not me!!!) say about that one?

              Well,
I poked around and poked it right off the clip, It hangs down because there is no other way to hang it, it is a large medal. The thread holding the SS closed looks old. I would say with the tear drop that the medal stuck out from the bar and sewing it in held it there.
              Anyway my observations
