It appears to be an original example of this extremely scarce badge. Only a few were awarded and I have not yet seen any fakes with the distinctive catch. I would value this bagde at around $4,000 or more. Nice item. I had a bronze and silver once but never saw a gold.
Sorry but in my opinion this is a fake badge. when put side by side to a
genuine badge one can see all the errors.
I have also not seen a LDO case for this badge, only high quality cases in blue
and tan leather for silver and bronze grades.
The Detlev Niemann book does show that there are Gold versions of this badge. But as I have done a little research I am going to say that this is a fake because the I just dont like the makers mark.
The badge shown is a fake. I was shown similar badges recently which were being made in the UK for sale as reproductions. The catch should be smaller and thinner and eagles legs have different markings.
Hi, its not Wehrmacht but civilian. The firsts Motorsportabzeichen in gold (I Stufe) was given to 66 racers on the 2/18/1939 in Ufa-Palast Berlin. The owners was Heer, Luftwaffe, SS, DDAC and most NSKK members.
