    Unknown Party Badge

I haven't a clue what this is. Don't know if it's fake or real. Never heard of the D.V.G. Deutscher Volk xxxxx. Opinions please would be welcomed.

    Thank you!

    A FAKE

I think I can safely say that Deschler never made that badge.

Please note, I am not trying to pass it off as anything other than a "what's this?". Never heard of the DVG? Just curious, I wouldn't try to pass it off to anyone until I knew it was 1) Absolutely OK and 2) Knew what the hell it was.

      Thanks Bill.

You said, "Don't know if it's fake or real." I told you it was fake and didn't imply you were trying to pass it off. I just politely answerd one of your questions.

Why is there an apparent assumption that every question is about the authenticity -- as opposed to identity -- of an item? Might not someone simply be after knowledge? Could it be that a simple identification rather than a display of pontifical authority is what is sought?

I looked high and low for any such organization in the Reich. Couldn't find it. I made the next leap which was that it was a fantasy piece. So I was looking for opinion.

The man said: "I haven't a clue what this is. Don't know if it's fake or real. Never heard of the D.V.G. Deutscher Volk xxxxx. Opinions please would be welcomed." Part of his question was about the authenticity of the badge and I simply told him that it was a fake. I made a comment, and hardly tried to display "pontifical authority". He had a two part question. If you know what the organization is simply tell him. I don't know and didn't comment on that part of the dual question.

Everyone, I am very happy that with Bill's knowledge of other authentic pieces by same producer that he knows this particular piece is not made by them. Now if this organization truly exists, that would be also interesting. But I want to thank Bill for putting one part of the question to bed without hesitation. I always wonder why anyone would go to the bother of creating such a fake? I suppose that it is fantasy makes it easier to dump.

And Bill, like it or not you are an authority...

                  Don't worry Brians,

Bill doesn't like, but literally LOVES to appear as an authority.

Well he is an authority. He's got tons of good stuff to post as examples of what's right. Only thing I noticed was Bill was asked why he thought one of his Aux Cruis badges was a fake when most thought it real. So if he errs, it appears to be on the conservative side.

IMHO there are genuine DVG membership badges. But I never before saw one with the wreath surround. I don't know what the organization was but I am sure someone on the forum will know. I have sincere doubts as to this badges originality. Hope this helps.

                        Bundes Deutscher Volksgemenischaft

                        J. R. Cone has quite a write up on this badge in his reference book One People, One Reich, Enameled Organizational Badges of Germany 1918 - 1945. Says it was initially produced for citizens in the Alsace-Lorraine (Elsass-Lothringen) region.

                          Here's a great link to the history of the organization;

And does the badge look anything like what's in the book?

                            I would have replied.....

....via private message, but Langemark or 'M' seems to have disabled that function on his window, leaving me no alternative but to ask my question of him/her here.

What exactly was your comment to Brians having to do with the subject matter at hand?

                              Try this link

                              Brians,

Not sure if your badge was listed or discussed here, but link
http://nsdapbadges.tripod.com/ previously discussed different party badges.

Frobler was the guy running it and he's a member as well. The link doesn't appear to be working, but you might try a PM to him to ask his opinion. His site was the most informative that I saw on these items.
