    Cleaning ribbons

I got a 2 piece medal bar, EK2 and KVK2 w/ swords, but there's quite a bit of rust on the swords and on the ribbons making it pretty dirty looking (the white on the ribbon is orange in some places due to rust). Is there any way to clean it up a bit? Or should I leave them the way they are? Thanks a bunch!

Probably leave them alone.....but you can take a soft brush to the ribbons (and medals, too) and that will help remove some crud.
    I'd not recommend anything harsher.
*But*, I did clean up a stiff and cruddy unmounted WW1 EK2 ribbon by soaking it in plain water overnight anf then rinsing it off. That helped a great deal. No soap though!
    Thanks,
    Eric Gaumann

Alright, I'll try with a soft tooth brush, thanks mate!

Be very careful using water or any cleaning agent. Many of the ribbons were dyed in vegetable dyes. These will bleed. Either loose their color or will stain the other ribbons.

A soft brush is about the only thing I would use.

        Cheers,
        Howard
