    West Wall Ribbon Length

    West Wall Ribbon Length

Does anyone know if there was an official ribbon length of the West Wall Medal? I have seen variations of 4 – 6 inches (10.16-15.24 cm); or did they vary from maker to maker?

    Thanks,

    John

On unissued pieces I have seen 12 inch lengths in their envelopes. Shorter lengths may be due to a piece snipped off to go though the button hole.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t the West Wall Medal classed as a War Decoration so could be worn though the second button hole?

That was simply on presentation. I seem to recall reading that Todt got the very first one being awarded, making a "photo-op occasion." I doubt anyone else (unless being photographed) ever even did that.

This medal was NOT authorized for "permanent" wear from the tunic buttonhole.
