    'Flower War' Medals

    Hi,

I read on this website that the Anschluss and Sudetenland medals were presented to all who participated in the events. Does this primarily mean soldiers who were physically present when the anexations took place? Or could one earn these medals by being in a combat leadership role during the period, but not involved directly with the operations (such as a wing commander, on alert during the event)?

Would these medals normally be listed on a personal review of a soldier, or were they considered mundane, and unworthy of mention?

    Your thoughts are highly welcomed.

    regards,

    Darren

I believe that the second case is most correct. The leadership or soldat did not need to be in the front line. The suppliment staff behind the lines also was eligible to these awards.

    Regards,

    Schmidt

I have seen medalbars to NSDAP officials with the flower war medals attached, so I beleive that even if some of the party Bonzen got within sniffing distance of Vienna or Proague they could get the medals...
