    A Tank Destruction Badge

Finally a couple of weeks ago I bought a badge on the estand, a badge which I had on my wish list for some time.
It is the Tank Destruction Badge. I have always been fascinated by this badge even though there are no eagles of swastikas on this badge.

Last week the badge arrived and the badge is in very good condition, I would even say almost mint………

Only those two ugly holes where it was pinned onto something are really such a shame.......

So yesterday I sharpened my tools (a wooden toothpick, and yes I really sharpened it) and with a lot of patience I started to work on those two ugly holes.

Here is the end result of which I am very pleased with. Remember this is an untouched scan so no Photoshop tricks. Nothing has been added to the badge only the thread has been carefully pushed back into its original place. There will of course always be a hole but I think it is not as noticeable as before.

          Hi,

Very well done and a very nice badge as well. Iam also in love with these beadges. I always wondered why there is a German tank on the badge instead of a enemy one. Someone could believe that he had knocked out a Pzkpfwagen IV.

          Best wishes, Jens

Well if I ever knew a "Handy Andy" it would have to be Pascal.

            Great award, and lovely "restauration"

Thank you guys for your positive replies.

It took me some time but I think it was worth it.

I am also very pleased with the result.
So in the end I think my training as a (antiques) restorer finally paid off.

And I kept to the first rule they ever taught me, every restoration has to be reversible!
