McColl, Is right about the Japanese awards. I remember one Luftwaffe ploit getting the Order of the Rising Sun 3rd class because of his action in the Japanese Navy during WW1. Later on during WW2, he came back to Germany and fought in the luftwaffe. I am so sorry but I don`t remember the name of the ploit but in his photo. He was wearing both his WW2 knight`s cross with Oak leaves and his Order Rising Sun 3rd class around his neck. Also during WW2, Japanese admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was rewarded the Knight Cross with Oak leaves and swords. I know that the Japanese govenment had two speical samurai swords made for General Ewirn Rommel and Herman Goring as well. As well as during the Russo- Japanese War. It was a couple of German Soldiers who fought along side the Japanese Army and was able to get the Russo Japanese War, Japanese General service medal. As far as Bulgarian, I have been toll that there were some German soldiers and officers rewarded the Bulgarian wound badge.

hi, so did the Japanese Admiral Yamamato ever wear his Knight's Cross? Also, according to an Osprey book called "World War II German Battle Insignia", there was "The Italo - German Medal for the Campaign in Africa", it was manufactured by the Lorioli firm of Milan, and was awarded to Italian and German servicemen who fought in North Africa. However, after Mussolini's overthrow, starting from March 20 1944 German personel were forbidden to wear this. Hoped this helped
