Hello again
I don't really know where to post this item, so I will try here. Moderator, please feel free to move as necessary.
I picked up this vesta case at a German (Paderborn) flea market because I liked it. I have had it checked out at a UK jeweller who has confirmed my poor knowledge of silver. Both the case and lid is hallmarked. Great I hear you say. Well actually no! The date is 1897 (x) but it was made in Birmingham, England. About 20 minutes from where I live...
Any ideas would be very much appreciated. The obvious answer to me is that it is 'dodgy', but is it? The swaz is silver soldered to the case BTW.
Regards
Steve
