Can someone give me some information on the background of this award? How rare(or common) and what sort of requirements are necessary to be awarded it.

I would also be interested if someone could give me an idea what awards are shown on the ribbon bar in the photograph of my great uncle. In some paperwork, he lists WWI EK2 and some sort of 'Bayer' award. This is all new to me, and I appreciate any help! Thanks,

This award is known as the"Treudienst Ehrenzeichen" or faithful service decoration.This is the 25 year version(silver).there was also one for 40 years(Gold) and one for 50 years(Gold wreath and silver cross,with the numeral 50 on the front.Designed by Richard Klein
This range of awards was instituted on the 30th january 1938 by Hitler to recognise loyal civil service to the german people.
25 years awarded for work in the public sector(civil servants,post office,railway etc etc)
40 years for public service
50 years for employment with a private company
I cant really tell whats on the ribbon bar.Maybe an enlarged shot might help.
