    Medal bar (12)

    Dear fellow collectors,

I just noticed this medal bar, being offered by a German dealer :

SCHNALLE MIT 12 AUSZEICHNUNGEN: Eisernes Kreuz 1914 / Spange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz in Prinzengröße / Preussen, Roter Adler-Orden 4. Klasse / Sachsen-Königreich, Albrechts-Orden Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern / Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer 1914-1918 / Wehrmachts-Dienstauszeichnung 2. Stufe für 18 Jahre / Medaille 1. Oktober 1938 mit Spange "Prager Burg" / Österreich, Militär-Verdeinstkreuz 3. Klasse / Ungarn, Kriegserinnerungsmedaille 1914-1918 mit Schwertern / Bulgarien, Kriegserinnerungsmedaille 1915-1918 mit Schwertern / Italien, Orden der Heiligen Mauritius und Lazarus, Ritterkreuz (Gold)

What do you think about it? Is it correct to see a single mounted WH-DA 18 years? I thought that in this case also the WH-DA 4 J. should be worn. Furthermore shouldn't the Austrian MVK 3. Klasse be placed before the Ehrenkreuz f. Frontkämpfer, since very likely this bar could be put together after the Anschluss (see the Sudetenland-Anschluss medal)? The clasp (Prinzen-sized) of the IC 2nd class seems also to have the same shape of a IC 1st clasp.

I do not like to much the way the ribbons are put together (see the bottom). Nevertheless if such "quite exotical and uncommon" combination existed, it wouldn't be a problem for our specialists (Rick and Werner) to find it out who was the wearer of this "sexy looking" medal bar.

    Your comments are most appreciated...

    Ciao,

    Claudio

The so-called "Spange" is absurd. Absolutely correct-- the 18 was never worn alone-- nor would anyone I have EVER encountered of seniority to have a peacetime Red Eagle have had an 18 rather than a 25.

The "logical" answer is the bar may have been OK (strange to have Sudeten and Prag bar before the previously annexed Austrian MMC, but not impossible to find such period mismounts-- an "Ugly.")--

it looks to me like some utter moron has ruined this bar by "improving" it by cramming in a junk "spange" and switching the original long service award (imperial XXV? Third Reich civil service?) with this preoposterous Wehrmacht lone-18.

      Such idiots!!!! moremad

        8er Grossenordenspange

        Dear fellow collectors,

Here's another medal bar, from the same dealer.

I think this looks better, very likely the owner of this bar was a Kriegsmarine Officers...

        The description:

Eisernes Kreuz 1914 / Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse 1939 mit Schwertern / Hausorden von Hohenzollern, Kreuz der Ritter mit Schwertern (einseitige Ausführung) / Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer 1914-1918 / Wehrmachts-Dienstauszeichnungen 1. und 3. Klassen / Medaille zur Erinnerung an die Heimkehr des Memellandes 1939 / Finnland, Ritterkreuz 1941 des Ordens des Freiheitskreuzes mit Schwertern, (Rückseite gechipt). Rückseitig Herstelleretikette "Sedlatzek Berlin"

        Ciao,

        Claudio
