          Hi mate,

It appears everyone has an opinion on these. Many take this style over that etc. However, the version that you show is widely regarded as an original. I have seen these with maker marks in similar positions on the bottom edge of the rim.

I agree with Darrell - no probs with this one. There also was a 4yr LS with the mm L13 on the rim a short while ago on the members only estand (part of a medalbar).

I don't think that I have seen one exactly like this before. There are a number of differences between this one and the usually accepted double-acorn type.

              Cheers,
              David.
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

You are right David, I was a little too hasty. Below is my double-acorn and the L/13 mm for comparison. There are obvious differences on the medal itself as well as slight differences on the L/13 mm (mainly the 3)

                    Dimisions and weight

                    Hello,
I have the dimisions and weight without ribbon. The marked 3 is the same, my camera is not so good for better details.

                    W 32.20 mm
                    H 37.10 mm
                    W 11.94 g

                    I hope its helps.
