Glider pilots badge => Silver C

    Hello,

I know I know the title can be somehow misleading but here is a bullion Glider Pilots badge ( civil ) , the so called " Silver C " .
The main distiction between the normal C pattern is the oak leave that surrounds the 3 gulls.

Howmany variants do exist from such Bullion badges ? I would like to see badges from otehr collections + these are not so common and their metal WWII period counterparts are always numbered .

Feel free to hop in and show us you bullion gilder pilot " Silver C " badge

        Glider Pilot Badge in Cloth

        David,

Since I know you area specialist in the area of gliders, here is a Luftwaffe Glider Pilot badge in cloth. I have this one and also a bullion version in my collection --- but still no cased metal one which I have been looking for a long time.

As always, the "all important" reverse view.

            Silver C bullion badges

            Hello,

Thanks Mike for showing your beauty's => they are certainly nice pieces and I love looking at them . IMHO the Silver C badge ( both metal as wel as bullion badge ) are highly undervalued awards and hard to find !!!

I wonder iff there can be encountered machine embroyed Silver C badges ?

                  silver C

                  Hello Tim,

Thanks for sharing, as usual most outstanding material !!!!! but the C badges ( metal, Bullion & machine embroied ) are the normal C issue !!!!!!! ( not the so called Silver C grade => look at the wreath off your bullion badge + compare it towards the one I posted )

It seems that you have a new mission in finding these grades

                      theory

                      Hello,

I have developped a theory ( altough I can't prove it at this time ) regarding the international recognized silver C in relation towards the large NSFK glider pilots badge .

It is known that german glider pilots could nbot qualify for the international Silver C grade badge and that the Large NSFK glider pilots badge replaced this award starting from 1942 and with the large destruction of Germany at the end of 1944 took an end .

It is now my theory that persons ( glider pilots ) who qualifyed previously for the silver C received directly the Large NSFK glider pilots badge and that this badge ( silver C) was to be replaced for wear, persons who earned the qualication standards after the introduction of the Large NSFK glider pilots badge got only this badge !!!

Is there anyone who can proove this theory with pictures or such ? ( for example => are there any period ( dated between 1942 and 1945 ) pictures known where the silver C is still in cear ? , etc .... )

Cordial greetings and thanks in advance for the help
