    Blood Order Medal

    Howdy!
I just went down to one of the antique and purchased this Blood Order Medal. Now, I am very skeptical of any medals being real, but this is not my area of expertise. The pictures that I took really aren't all that great and don't show the medal very well. It certainly shows age, but I know that just about anything can be aged these days. This medal was being sold along with a Mothers Cross and a War Merit Badge. The story is that a Jewish man brought in these medals saying that his father was in a concentration camp and took these medals from german soldiers ( whether or not they were officers, dead or alive, I'm not sure ). The Mothers cross and merit badge looked original to the period and so does this one. Now whether it really is, I can't be sure. Again the pictures don't really show the medal very well. It is stamped on the back with the numbers " 889" over "900." Please let me know what ya'll think.

If you think its fake please give me a reason why. How to pick out fakes for example.

This is a modern copy, made in the last decade. The ball loop, for the ring is never found on original Blood Orders. The entire design is very far off from an original. Also, with the number of 869, this should have been a Fuess marked piece with the silver content 990. There is everything wrong with this medal. it would have been better for you to search the threads, on these forums, than to spend good money on such a fake.

Search the forum and you will see a number of original Blood Orders.

              Hi,

Gosh....I hope that I am not wrong in saying that it is bad but I don't like it. Two things that I immediately noticed are the eagle (head looks strange), and most obvious is the bluish tint that results from artificially aging an object ( I have been seeing that a lot recently on many items). I am by far no expert on these, so please don't make a judgement on my words, I am trying to learn, so bear with me if I am off on this one. Thanks

Shoot, I'll throw in an opinion. I just compaired yours to one that was on the estand for sale. The eagle on yours is not as detailed (the beak appears blunt as opposed to the other one). The figures in the arches are also not as detailed as the one that was for sale. Those points alone would cause concern for me. I am interested in what others say, as I'm still learning and just wanted to through my thoughts in.

The attaching ring on yours appears quite a bit thicker than on the others I've seen.

Thanks for all the information! I paid $40 for it. My figuring was, if it was real I might as well snatch it up now in the chance it might be fake then letting it go without knowing whether it was original or not. I don't know this field at all, but it doesn't hurt to learn some. Thanks again!

                      Hello Beau,

At least for $40, you didn't get hurt.

                      Best regards,
                      Bob
