    OSTFRONT MEDAL......real?

    I'm seeking opinions.
I purchased this one from the estand earlier this summer. When it arrived I looked at it cursorily and then put it aside. I also emailed the seller with my approval.....oh well, my fault.
However, when the thread about the perfect Eastern front medal popped up, and then the results......I thought I'd have a closer look at the one I picked up for g.p.

My main question is about the way the body of the helmet connects to the brim in front.

It makes a straight shot down. No curve. Am I correct in thinking that this is wrong? Take a look and see what you think.

I'm giving it the acetone test in a few days as well.

    My thanks,

        Hi Bruce,

Looks like an original to me......details are quite crisp and defined. The helmet area appears to be consistant with originals that I've seen.

        Thanks,
        Mike

            Hi schonbeck....

......here's the link I was referring to:

            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=120155

The use of the word 'perfect' was mine here in this thread, but in my opinion is properly used in reference to the above link. I make no claims as to the content of the above link one way or the other. But, after having read the info there I decided, as I said above, to re-look at this particular badge of mine.

I didn't say anything about a 'perfect' fake ostfront medal. I'd like to see one too.

......thanks for your replies......all of you. They are appreciated and I probably have been over-worrying.

                    Hi Bruce,
Is that a maker's mark I see on your 3rd. pic. ?... I too have a medal with this helmet feature which is ring stamped "6." for 'Fritz Zimmerman'.

Hi Bruce, looks good to me . My "6" marked medal has the same characteristic as well.

                        Well......

......The mark on the ring looks more like a ding to me, even with my S. Holme's type magnifying lens. Just too indistinct for me to really tell. I've been using $ on T.R. collectibles and neglecting my electron microscope fund, but I suppose the important things come first.

Thanks again for all the input. It is extremely appreciated.

                            Lettering seems crude

I noticed the two "c's" in schlacht were not the same size. They should be identical. Also, I did not like the lack of crispness in the sword. Last, the "S" in osten just doesnt look right to me. Look at the picture of this medal in Niemann's book and see what you think. I hope I'm wrong, because I know the feeling when I have this happen. Good luck!!!
