        Hi Robert,

Looks bad to me, but I am no expert. The colour looks really odd, as you would expect from a repro that has been cast using non-original material. Also, it almost looks as though someone has copied this off a slightly corroded original, and the corrosion marks have been reproduced on the replica, so that even the corrosion marks now look "new"! The writing on the back sort of has a "doubled" appearance. Sorry, it just doesn't look the way an original should look to my eyes.

My first impression of the medal is . If the bluish tint that I am seeing, is true, then it could be the result of a process used to create the illusion of a patina or age. If...if it is original, it appears that someone has abused it badly. Send it back if you can. IMHO

Been there myself before Robert! The amount of fake stuff on ebay would sink a battleship. But you can find some very good original items on there at times. I recently won two original Gebirgsjager divisional publications from 1941 and 42, very reasonably priced, and the one book even contained an original Third Reich map of occupied France! The problem with ebay is a lot of the sellers are either crooks, or have bought the stuff themselves in good faith and believe their items to be authentic. It can be difficult convincing some sellers that their item is a fake.
