Help with NSFK Badge

Hello folks,

I bought this NSFK badge about four years ago, but I never managed to find any info about it.

It is an enameled oval badge - (50mm X 38mm) or (2in X 1.52 in) -mounted in two pieces, as the "flying human" is fixed to the base by three rivets. The maker is "Rob. Neff- Berlin W57". It is a much more lovely in person than in this pictures, I must say.

So I would like to know what is this award, who was ellectible to receive it, how rare is it and value.

Hello Douglas,

Your badge is not an award, but rather was a badge worn by an official at the flying competition. In this case, it is for someone at the Ground Control Station in Berlin during the National Flying Competition in 1938. It would probably sell for about $100..

Here is the info you seek: #1 - What is this award? It is an event badge for the National Flying Competition of 1938 #2 - Eligibility? This particular event badge, with the title " BODENLEITSTELLE BERLIN " (Ground Control Station, Berlin ) was intended for wear by an official ( referee, etc. ) of the event, not a participant or spectator, as the title BODENLEITSTELLE would indicate. #3 - Rarity? On a scale of 1 to 10 I personally would give it about a 6 - Price? On todays market between $85 - $125, dependent upon condition and how badly one wants it for themselves!

Be careful about these enameled NSFK badges. They have been EXTENSIVELY faked in Argentina starting in the early eighties.
