Live saving medal question

    Live saving medal question

    I have a question about the live saving medal:


    Was this both a civil and military medal or yust a civil medal?


    I mean, when Fritz saves the live of Hans during a military operation would he recive the medal???

            I thought that the War Merit cross was awarded once the war started... for saving a life off the battle field. (homefront)

              It was . There were cses of Hj kids as young as 11 who got a KVK (with swords) for pulling people out of burning buildings.
              I would kill for a portrait of one of these kids. There wasa thread on here sometime back showing abunch of HJ/BDM with their medals and a dignitary.

                That would indeed be an awesome find... photo, citation, and medal. I would pay what a lifesaving medal was worth for such a lot. I would even display it with my lifesaving medals... (It would make it the most expensive KVK2 in history!).
