    Strange Olympic Pin

This came in a collection about 2 months ago, and I am not even sure what it is supposed to be, or whether or not it is real. Can someone please bring us up to speed on these? Thanks in advance for the help.

Reverse. That I cannot find this in a reference book is not a good sign, unless it's just one of those pieces that just doesn't seem to make the books.

I have already seen this badge several times. I think it is one of the "official" badges produced at the time.

Here is one (not mine) :

          Hi Craig,

The jury still seems to be out with these. There isn't any firm evidence for either original or fantasy.

On the plus side they are well made (but so are the Frauenschaft leaders badges made in the 1970's)

On the negetive side is that there isn't any period photos showing them in wear (but there are also dozenss of other genuine badges that haven't shown up in photos yet)

My personal "gut" feeling is fantasy, firstly, they are just too appealing..... & to my knowledge, none have turned up in very early collections from before the 70's when the fake/fantasy enamels really started to take off. Secondly, & probably more importantly, they tend to turn up with dealers that I am very cautious with due to the large amount of items they stock that I wouldn't want in my collection.

Just my opinion I'm afraid. I think with these it's got to be a persons individual feeling/opinion until more info emerges, if ever it does.

          Cheers
          Don

That's a very good point raised by Don. Thanks.
Let's see if someone can learn us more about them.
