    is this paint job original?

hey Guys, Glenn here. I am just getting into medals recently and dont know all the details about them. hopefully someone can shed some light on this matter. this badge is stamped #3 on the reverse. (I know the maker) what puzzles me is that the paint on the reverse is duller than that on the front. is this correct for this maker or style of badge? if it is altered in any way I would like to know as I do not want any altered pieces in my collection. any information on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Glenn

Glenn, alot of my wound badges, black ones, have a satin look (Some even shinyish) on the front and more dull on the obverse, and they mostly came in packets and boxes.

It could be a pointer to a respray/repaint or just the way over the years grubby mitts and all, and the more likely finish to be honest.

I wouldn't be overly concerned, and suspect it's the original finish, unless you can see any traits off a respray, imperfections in the paint, dust or particles perhaps, even brush strokes perhaps.

        Just my thoughts,

        Marcus

          Hello Glenn,

Probably a real badge, but it's hard to tell anything with those pictures. Make sure your camera is set in 'macro' for taking close up pictures. Can't comment about the painted finish without seeing clearer pictures.
          Best regards! Tom

thanks Guys. I will get better pics up for better viewing but I do not see any "foul" play with the finish myself. but a better pic might help everyones opinion. it will be up soon. Glenn
