    Russian front makers

    Hi all,

I have two russian front medals and have just found the maker marks on them as I was trying to decide which one to pass on to the guy who bought one.

One is the recognizable "65" no problems there. The second is a little more confusing it is marked "W15". Is this Friedrich Orth of Wien? Or another maker thats not listed?

    Thanks in advance.

Almost forgot: "65" is zinc and the "w15" is buntmetal(?)

    Hi anguspm,

As far as i know no other letters than the "L" initial on LDO marked badges for 3rd Reich medals and badges.
If the maker mark is as you said that is a bad sign, but i assume that your medal is marked "L15" and as a matter of fact i have see Ostmedaille marked "L15" it was a nice zink made medal.
A picture of your medal will help for further discussion.

Also, if you browse through the old threads you will find an interesting thread about these medals and you can find several makers who produced these medals at Sebastian's main site.
