          Beautiful PAB!

The Collectors Guild has some nice items, but I think his prices can be a bit on the ridiculous side.
          Regards,

            Morning Guys,

Well this without a doubt is the most interesting PAB I have seen this year.

As we recently discovered this PAB is made by GWL

            http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...B%23post962856

The hinge is a match to what we know from the GAB's but without a solder base and the catch is something I have never seen, but compared to the known set-up this for sure is an earlier badge. Based upon the pictures my best guess would be that this also is a zinc just like the other GWL PAB we know.

The price for sure is high but taken in to account how unique this badge is I much rather pay it for this lovely GWL than for an Fo marked trabbi design.

Hi Guys, please bear in mind that Peter W does not set the prices; they are set by the customers who sell via his site through consignment It is other collectors who are asking these kind of prices.

                Cheers, Ade.

Well all of a sudden I remembered where I saw that catch before. It's the same catch GWL used on their early buntmetall pilot badges

                    Holy smoke....

You can pick up a nice HA for a better price than that.

                      Hi Nelly,

What is an HA? Don't supose you're refering to an Aurich PAB?

If that is the case it's only logical that you can pick it up for a better price since Aurich PAB's, certainly in silver, are without a doubt one of the most common PAB's arround and as such not to be compared with this rare gem.

Talk such as this is why it is over $300. Five years ago I was buying these (PAB's) for $70-$90...This is priced WAAAAAAAAAY too high.

It is just a PAB people...and some dope is going to buy it at this price, you wait and see....

Well I can't wait to see you posting some pics of the dozens of GWL PAB's you picked up for $70 to $90. I honestly doubt that you ever came close to one of these PAB's and I also don't think that anybody on this forum will be able to post another one.

Times have changed and the times were collectors werent able to distinguish between One IAB, PAB or GAB and the next one are long gone. Hé back then they payed the same price for the copies because knowledge was so limited that they even couldn't distinguish between good and bad.

Obviously you do not read English so well, Did I say "dozens? Did anyone hear me say dozens? I said PABs...not GWL PAB's. I said five years ago, and then you purchased either marked or unmarked (from a dealer) and there was a $20-30 difference between them. There didn't seem then this predominent desire to collect by maker as it seems today.

I will take your word that this is a super rare PAB, most people would not spend $400 on a PAB. It is the person paying these ridiculous prices that is driving the hobby into areas where the common folk cannot go.

Well at the end of the day this is what common people will collect. Simply because this "ridiculous priced" PAB's (IAB, GAB) will still be 10 times more accessible than the cased Pilot Observer and 30 times more than the cased Lazy 2 RK.

Based upon the knowledge aquired over the last years, variant collecting will be the future of this hobby for the common collector. For the simple reason that based upon thorough knowledge you can still set yourself a goal and will have a fair chance to achieve that goal. A chance that the common collector no longer has when he starts looking at highend items or besides awards is also interested in docs, uniforms, helmets, daggers....................

The new focussed collector, doesn't have to keep a spare $10000 in in wallet for the day his RK comes arround for the simple reason that he is not interested in these items. He much rather will focus on the subject he choose to specialize in and won't have the slightest problem in paying above average prices for some of the missing items in his collection. These prices might seem ridiculous to collectors not as familiar with the subject at hand as our specialized collector but than again who are they to judge him because they don't have the knowledge to understand what it's all about.

That being said and like I wrote above the price for sure is high and it most likely is pure coincidence that for once the price reflects the rarety of this particular PAB. The fact that this has everything to do with luck and not with knowledge is also underlined by the fake $392 AWS PAB offered by that same dealer. Didn't hear anybody complainng about that offer though.
