While the ribbon on the medal looks original to me as well, it sure appears yellow. Could it possibly be for the lifesaving medal?

There are a wide range of colours for these ribbons, however when compared to a Lifesaving ribbon they are immediately obvious.

In my experience early or First Issue Westwalls have a more Honey-coloured ribbon where the Second Issues have a darker brown colour. As I said though, that's just what I've experienced.
