A Visit to the Hanover Air Museum: Part II

    Dear Forum members,

I thought I'd share with you some photos of my recent visit to the Hannover Air Museum ( http://www.luftfahrtmuseum-hannover.de/ ). The first part was about Imperial times, you can find it here:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=101109

They also have a huge exhibition hall dedicated to WW2 and postwar times, well worth a visit. I didn't take too many photos of the planes, but they have lots of them, Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2, FW 190, ...
(I apologize for the quality of the pics.)

A nice model of the frozen Hartvikvann lake in Norway where several Ju 52 landed in 1940, but couldn't take off again and thus sank in Spring. 4 of them were saved in 1986.

Now some showcases for individual people. First, a tribute to Erich Hartmann:

A model of Galland with RK and cigar, wearing - if I remember it right - some of his original LW clothing:

Medals and documents to another fighter pilot, Herbert Findeisen. There are signs in each showcase stating that the original awards are not on display, however.

Showcase for Marseille, with a model of his pyramidal shaped grave. In the background is a reconstruction of a DAK barrack.

I found this the most moving exhibit. Rather small, almost hidden in a showcase: The death notice for the German Ryans:

It ends with a memorial to the flyers of all nations who lost their lives.

                            Regards
