    Horse Driver badges

Were there any horse driver badges without the R at the bottom or are those all deemed as repro's??
    thanks

It's not a question of being a "repro" - all of the post war versions of the "horse" series of badges dropped the "R." It's not a "1957" issue either, since the badges were neither party nor war-related...

I don't have the specific facts at my fingertips, but it may have been either a change in the name of the authorizing body or the names of the badges that caused the R to be dropped.

            Badge...

Be careful. This type badge is still awarded today in Germany to equestrians.

A German friend of mine was surprised to learn how similar her horse riding badge was to those issued during the Third Reich.

This looks to be a Post War or "'57" version.

Besides the lacking "R", the pin & catch are the newer style.

Chris- I just posted a wartime Gold version of the Horseman's Badge on the Estand if you want to see the difference.

But here's a photo of the back so you can see what I mean about the pin & catch.
