    Stoneleigh Show Ribbon Bars

A few bars I picked up at the weekend. Two of them a previous owner had clearly stuck them onto something with clear silicone sealant but the majority has now come off easily enough. I've also turned the LW eagle round to correct the damaged one bottom left.

I finally managed to get a ribbon bar for my Bavarian Fire Service 25 Year Award and also a Ludwig Cross

Any help on the Purple and Lime Green ribbon with swords and the Romanian (?) one next to it would be appreciated.

    Cheers, Ian.

    * I've no idea why the photos keep posting sideways !

    Sideways

Had to shrink them a bit to get them to post right side up. I guess WAF still has trouble w/ large photos, hopefully that'll be fixed soon.

    Best,

    James

Cheers James ... maybe I have a problem with the size of pics my phone takes ? I'll have a word with my Official I.T. advisor (eldest daughter) tonight.

I think it's just the way this (old) software handles photo posting; once they get the site moved over, things should be smoother. (We hope )

Nice to see that Bayern fire ribbon! Seems like you get some nice bars from that show.

I couldn't find a "foreign" match for those 2 on the end you inquired about. Found some that look similar as German states; but can't imagine them being that out of place. Just not sure; hopefully Pierce or Nicolas to the rescue on those.

One of the traders had just bought an old collection of ribbon bars, he had already sorted out a load that he felt were obviously bad. There were a few strange things (Police 25 year device with swords and black wound badge device added) that I felt were messed with and many duplicate common ones.

I cherry-picked the ones I really liked but may give them another once over at Birmingham in 2 weeks time.

Nice score Ian. The purple ribbon is the Italian Order of the Roman Eagle:

The ribbon next to it is the Romanian Order of the Crown.

            Best regards,
            Nicolas

Wow, many thanks Nicolas. I thought it may be a mis-placed WWI German State award.

              Cheers, Ian.

                Ian - nice haul, congrats!

I think Nicolas is right, although the second to the last could be the Romanian Michael the Brave and the last could be the Romanian Order of the Star. But tough to know for sure and like I said, Nicolas has pointed out the likelier option, I think.

Some great ones there Ian. I'd hardly call them "a few".

Pick-ups from the Birmingham Arms Fair today … from the same collection as the ones from Stoneleigh.

Interesting bars indeed. Were you a bit skeptical because of some of the devices like the KvK? You mentioned you felt some were messed with; it's just tough to sort out sometimes.

                          Best,

                          James

Hi James, I asked Pierce and he said the bars all looked good. I actually left several with weird combinations. Everything is UV- and all the ribbons have weft thread loops, the indoor lighting shows an inaccurate colour brightness as well.

Yep, just always a bit leery when it comes to devices; but looks like you got everything covered. If you don't mind, wouldn't mind seeing a closer look at the top two long bars when you get time.
