I have been told that finding a common medal like the Westwall Honor Medal in a hard case is not something that you see everyday so I thought this would be a good thread to show my example, Chris
The LDO cases are great and the 2nd style boxes with the ldo imprint on the inner lid are even harder to find.
The box of the west wall medal is not the oney, you would expect for this medal....
I had also been told that authentic hard cases for the Westwall Honor Medal were non-existent, but the medal and case that I posted came together with this practically one-of-a-kind Westwall Honor Medal document awarded to Viktor Lutze (purchased at a German auction house a few years ago). The document is 100% original and I'm not saying that this proves that the Westwall Honor Medal in its case is authentic and was issued to Lutze together with the award document because I have no provenance of that, but it does stand a helluva good chance. A picture of the award document is attached. It is large and measures 35cm. by 25.5cm. IMO a great find and truly historical piece. Thank you all for your interesting input, Chris
Agree it certainly looks that way. Possible only a handful existed under special circumstances like yours; we just can't know for sure I guess, but infinitely more believable than the others we see posted from time to time that look brand new.
