Is there a way to tell the difference between kriegsmarine and Heer long service medals or are they the same ?

Is there a way to tell the difference between kriegsmarine and Heer long service medals or are they the same ?

Not really. They were issued with the same medals and same eagle attached to the ribbon.

One way may be by the backing used when the medals were mounted. However not a way to tell for sure if they were issued to Army or Navy.

Only way to know is if the Vet was Army or Navy.

Air force eagle is different.
