What is the material ? Is it a cut-up zeltbahn ?

Steve it is made from the water pattern variant with no soft edges. No Zelts were made from it, or at least that I know of. I had winter camo in this pattern, and know of a couple of FJ smocks made in it as well.

            Thanks Willi, but isn't this Heer splinter ( splinter A ) ?

IMO no. Water colors (tan, then lots of green, then some red brown). Splinter is olive, lots of red brown, then some green.

Had this discussion with George P. years ago and he also thought/ thinks it is a water variant. He had a smock in this pattern which he sold to a friend.

Its the brown dominant Splinter hard edge.
The one way to see what the fabric is is to open it up and look inside.
If its parka cloth it will be off white inside.
If its zelt it will had a darker green dom print inside.

Its probably collector made however as its almost too good to be true as a destroyed cammo garment could have been used, however there are real ammo pouiches made from cammo colth Willi rember the oak pouch !

                  Food for thought.

Yes, I remember the pouch Owen. Thanks for your comments. Can you share a photo of a Zeltbahn made in this pattern.

BTW Owen, what are your thoughts on the stitching of the bando presented here?

John and I are talking about the size and shape of the "splinters" , not the colours. These are the large Heer type, not the small Luftwaffe type. Their shapes are different .

Steve, I understand. If it is splinter then you can call it "A" or "B"…...Heer vs Luftwaffe. In water pattern it is not the same.

I call this a splinter B , because the splinters are typical Luftwaffe B.

I am assuming you are not saying it is this type

                            looks like a cut garment.
I was mistaken NOT a brown dom zelt.

hi, about the stitching of the bando , i thhink the rips repaired with the big black thread but which they must be of time without any doubt, on the other hand noted the difference of appearance of the sewing of the bando, the wire is much fresher.
