    Converted step in smocks

    Hi

In the Kurtz book, it mentions converted step in smocks.

Has anyone any pictures of such a smock.

    Cheers

    Leeb

    Hi Leeb,
There are some photos of one of John's converted step-ins in Chris Mason's SOLDAT book. I think we also discussed one recently on this forum. If you can wait a few weeks I can show you one of mine.
    Regards,
    Steve

          Just noticed this thread.
Below is a Grünmeliert converted smock, if this can help.

Here is a quick photo of a converted splinter smock that Steve had sent me in the past. Hope you don't mind Steve.

Mark, I hope you share more of your collection with us. If Glenn is impressed, then I am sure we all will be.

The real giveaway for anyone looking is the trapezoid stitching on the left-hand front opening. If you look at period photos you will see many FJs wearing these smocks. I just love them !

                  Regards,

I thank you Glenn for your kind words. As most of us, I’m always doing my best to get only unquestionable items for my collection. This being said, I confide that, still as most of us, I also sometimes make mistakes !

Willi, I would probably disappoint you because I’m not a true “FJ collector”, I’m somewhat eclectic in my collection theme.

Francis, n’hésite surtout pas à nous faire profiter des photos de ta blouse FJ.

Steve, is your digital camera operational by now ? Please share some pictures of your converted smock.

                    Best,
                    Mark

Sorry for the poor pictures, I had to scan a photo.
This is a 1941 Hubert smock converted to front opening:

Note all the conversion pieces are in gruenmeliert material, including the holster and spade loop.

This is a 1942 dated converted Hubert. Note the smock is in "splinter over olive" material , as are all the conversion panels.

Note: no added holster or loop.
I believe this is an earlier conversion than the first smock, but we will all have to wait to see what Willi says in his book
