the right place for the paratroopers of the Folgore in 1944 my friend! The schools of Tarquinia and Viterbo had ceased to function and the Italian paratroopers arrested in the newly formed CSR, were sent to Spoleto (Umbria), where the 4th Fallschirmjäger Division was located, which would have provided instructors and the necessary personnel for the functioning of the Parachuting School . A small group of 150 volunteers will be sent Freiburg to the Fallschirm Schule n. 4 to attend a special launch course according to the system in use by the German troops, while an official rate was sent to the Waffenschule fur Fallschirme Truppen of Le Courtine, near Avignon, France, for a superior tactical course of employment field for paratroopers. Here they are in a photo in Spoleto before being sent to the Anzio/Roma front line....

            really a great docs Group!!!

The former Arti Grafiche Panetto & Petrelli factory
was built in the Twenties with avant-garde criteria to transfer to it a printing and publishing activity which, from the beginning of the century, remained active until a decade ago.
Actually is abandoned and under judgement to create a new SuperMall in same area
The former factory is perhaps one of the last examples of industrial building in somehow still intact in Spoleto.

"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

Regiment Folgore was an RSI formation, trained by the germans. This Nco was very likely an instructor. Interestingly, there were also italian paratroopers that fought attached to german units. I met one of them some years ago, he fought at the Giogo pass with the Sturmregiment in September 1944, where he was taken prisoner.
