That is basic, my friend... No gap between ET and size... should be ET71 not ET 71

Just looking at both the liner band and rim details are indicators of a fake.

A very dumb person just paid $3000 for this fake ET 71 helmet. Good job on the paint though, would fool many.

But the buyer, undoubtedly, thinks he is much smarter than everyone else because he got a camo for far less than market value....

                    So goes the hobby....

I followed the sale of this buyer yesterday. There was a lot f 'rare' items.
Such a concentration should light on the red light.
On the other hand, pictures were very nice ...

I'm just afraid by the behaviour of the buyer when somebody will explain him his expensive error... but nobody forced him to click on the 'Buy' button...

                      Regards

I doubt the buyer will ever know. And if he knows anyone who really does know, then he is unlikely to believe him anyhow. This appears to be the second run of the good Czech fakes from a while back, where a tan substance was applied to the pads in an effort to age them and make it look like the early pads.

These fakes are in many collections, and as time goes on fewer will know/ believe they are fake.

The photos do not show the details of the camo. There is a reason the camo shots have been taken with lots of background.

I am "sympathy fatigued" regarding those who buy fakes, when there has been so much information readily available to help collectors.

But then again, on many forums on the web this helmet would be blessed as original.....

We just had a guy who recently posted a crappy fake shell and helmet cover, which had been blessed on GunBroker, and one wise gentleman told him to post it here. BUT, he still didn't believe us.

                          Hi Willy,

100 % agree with your writings.
Such an amount for a simple shell well made up is an expense that I can not understand.
Either some have an exceptional cash / budget for the 'militaria', or I get older and have trouble understanding the meaning of life of our time.

                          Best regards

Some collectors just don't have a "good eye". They compare the fakes to originals on this forum, or the excellent reference books , but still don't see the differences. There is no substitute for actually handling and "smelling" original items. Photos alone won't help those that don't know how to "look".
