    April 4, 1936

I thought I would post this photo as this week marks the 82nd anniversary of the first German paratrooper training course. This is an original photo of Bruno Bräuer (FSS No. 1) with the other members of the fist class.

Back Row: Mego, Hofmann, Volkmann, Zinke, Adryan, Bauer, Helmbold, Dochow, Hasse.

Middle Row: Petrick, Wittmann, Diete, Schulze, Scheiske, Lineck, Loos.

Front Row: Dunz, Dr. Greiling, Kroh, Bräuer, Immans, Kuhno, Rau, Moll, Kiess.

This particular piece was presented to Major Bräuer on July 3, 1936 and is signed by all members of the first class, including Capt. Immans (upper left) who was in charge of the training.

            Yet another fascinating thread.

            Thank you Mr Queen.

One thing that strikes me is the large number of officer tuchrocks with 'scalloped' pockets depicted.

Most obvious is that of Bräuer, but of the commissioned officers in the group photograph, no less than five (5) have similarly tailored tunics (out of a total of eight - with the white summer tunic not being counted).

Perhaps this raises some issues about how many (in terms of percentage volume) such tunics did exist.
