It is very fake. I suspect it is sewn to a new repro smock.

It looks like a very original, very rare , 1st pattern field division jacket made in the "splinter over olive" material. Shame about the eagle, the jacket looks superb

            Steve

If it is an early smock or field division jacket, and as Steve said it does appear to be, then it is well worth restoring.

                    Hi Michael

You will have to wait a loooooooooooooooooooong time to find an early FD with original eagle. Don't forget I am in front of you ( just behind John ).

                    Best wishes,
                    Steve

Nor would I Michael, but it could be "right" for someone. That is very rare camo material.

                          Michael

Don't know of any mint ones. You should ask Willi. I do remember there was a worn example ( with original eagle ) shown on this forum before. I believe it belonged to a serving member of the USMC. Again, Willi might know it.

Note it also has snaps at the wrist . Very nice

                          Best wishes,
                          Steve

P.S. I think they all had eagles ( probably FJ eagles ).

                            Hey guys,
just jumped into this thread. John, Steve, I'm curious about which kind of eagle could have been stitched in such an early pattern of Lw ground troops jacket.....Any idea?

                              Hi Daniele,
Just as early jump smocks, the early field division jackets usually had greunmeliert backed eagles on them.
                              Regards,
