    Save Albaneta on Montecassino

A large part of the area where the battle of Montecassino was fought is now in serious danger. A private company has taken it on lease for its commercial activities. Many trees have alredy been cut and some areas have been bulldozered. One of their projects is to build a Santa Klaus village!
It's an outrage against all those brave men who fought and died there.
Many official complaints have already been forwarded to the authorities, even by the polish Embassy in Rome.
We can also do something to stop the destructions, signing this petition:

    I already did it

I just see that the link to sign the petition at the top of the page doesn't work.
              This one should be ok:

What a shame. I have fond memories of my visit up there.

I'm glad to see some common sense and respect being shown with this result. But, of course, this horrible idea should never have happened in the first place. And all that fake snow and Christmas crap looked so bad against the dusty, rocky landscape, even without the significance of the battle site.

Hello to all. The problem, the real problem, not just the Christmas village that all you can see in these photos ... the problem is that the area has been leased from the Abbey to a private for 20 years ... and that this private here he wants to build a cheese factory. Numerous associations both environmental and historical are fighting against this thing.

Well, another proof they are just humans and not some "higher level whatever"- and money counts more than anything else. They do not care about history, humans costs, tradition etc.

Same here in my village, were the abby (same "brand" as at Monte Cassino) has bulldozed down the oldest beer-restaurant, as it does not made enough money anylonger. Now there stand 2 houses with flats...

The way the church has acted since the start
