Nice helmet Ron. But then I rarely see a REAL M38 that doesn't appeal to me.
This one is interesting on a couple of levels. It looks like it may have been overpainted? It looks like I can see brushmarks in some of the photos? Or are those light scratches? Perhaps traces of whitewash too?
This one was probably refurbished during the war as the lot number dates it to late 1940 but the liner, straps, and bolts are all late war examples. This one may have seen some extended use during the war and refitted.
Finally, the RBNr on the leather indicates manufacture by Schuberthwerke which is an uncommon maker for an M38 liner.
